Fullerton Offers Batten Help For NGK Rally Of Melbourne

Fullerton Financial Services’ Bruce Fullerton has highlighted the spirit of the NEC Australian Rally Championship offering support to PBR’s Paul Batten and Craig Jones to help the young team get to the final round of the 2007 NEC ARC, the NGK Rally of Melbourne. Fullerton and Batten are currently joint leaders of the rally.com.au Rally Challenge on 200 points, 22 points clear of equal 3rd place.

After taking the honours in Heat One of the fifth round of the Championship the Great Lakes Rally, Batten and Jones suffered a heavy accident in Heat Two, causing year ending damage to PBR’s Subaru WRX Sti.

Having enjoyed the competition this season in the rally.com.au Rally Challenge, Fullerton has generously offered PBR the use of his spare Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI to prepare and run in Melbourne with no lease fee and a simple damage clause.

For Fullerton, who runs a small privateer team, the possibility of having two cars wearing Fullerton Financial Services livery, finishing in the top two positions in the rally.com.au Rally Challenge would be a huge buzz.

Full-On Rallysport is run with only 4 people, consisting of Fullerton, his co-driver Hugh Reardon-Smith and 2 service personnel, and to have a car winning the 2007 rally.com.au Rally Challenge would be some achievement.

The Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI Fullerton is offering to Batten was purchased as a spare car earlier this year. It was originally used by Taguchi as a group N prepared recce car prior to running in the NSW championship where it achieved top 5 results.

Batten and Jones, who said they were blown away by the offer when Fullerton first approached them, have purchased a new shell from Japanese Wholesale Spares and will be burning the midnight oil to build and prepare the car in time for Melbourne. The team are looking at all options available to them and will be making a decision on their future for the remainder of 2007 as the car rebuild progresses.

If PBR accept the offer, the race for the winner of the 2007 rally.com.au Rally Challenge would be fought out between two Full-On Rallysport cars in Melbourne.

Another option for the team is the purchase of a new Subaru WRX Shell from Japenese Wholesalers, run by Pirtek Rally Team Ford driver Darren Windus.
