Hyundai Team Victory!

Paul had his first chance to impress in a prepared car at the recent Spring 200. The final round of the 2006 Victorian Excel Series. Paul was given the opportunity to drive the Kangan Batman TAFE prepared, and Hyundai Australia supported excel series car.

“It was a great experience for me. After years of hard work and late nights preparing cars this was the first time I have been in the lucky position of ‘arriving and driving’. It really allowed me to concentrate on my job as a driver and focus on getting a strong finish without making mistakes.” said Paul.

A great result followed with first excel, and 8 th place outright in a strong clubman field of 59 cars. The result was added to with a 2 nd place outright stage time, a great result for the team in the relatively standard Hyundai Excel.

Partnering Paul in the co-drivers seat was TAFE student Paul Carden, who was a member of the team of TAFE students who built the car as part of the Kangan Batman TAFE Motorsport course.

“We were really happy with the result, and surprised with our stage times. Paul and I really got used to each other and the car quickly, and the car performed faultlessly all event which is a credit to the TAFE guys and girls that built it. I would like to thank Greg from Kangan Batman Tafe, and Rod from Hyundai Australia for giving me the chance to drive the car”.
